HJS Review Request Emails

Ask your customers for a product review, automatically

HJS Review Request Emails emails a customer a set number of days after their order reaches a status you choose, with a direct link to the review form for each product they actually bought. You control the trigger, the delay and every word of the message.

Key features

• Sends a review request a set number of days after an order reaches order statuses you choose.
• Links straight to each purchased product's review form, with the review form already open when the customer lands.
• Subject and message are yours to write, with a separate wording section for each language installed in your store, using {firstname}, {lastname}, {store}, {order_id} and {order_date} placeholders.
• Exactly one request per order, enforced by the database - a customer is never asked twice for the same order.
• Cancels a waiting request automatically if the order is later cancelled, refunded, denied, failed, reversed, charged back or voided - you choose which statuses count.
• Unsubscribe link in every email, honoured permanently for that address, with the opt-out list visible in admin, addable by hand and exportable as CSV.
• The opt-out list SURVIVES uninstalling and reinstalling the add-on, on purpose. The queue, the settings and the scheduled job are removed cleanly; the record of who asked not to be emailed is kept and honoured again automatically.
• Admin log of everything queued, sent, cancelled or failed, with the reason and the attempt count, and buttons to cancel a waiting request or send a failed one again.
• Counts how many customers have clicked a review link, so you can tell whether your wording is working.
• Batched sending with a maximum per run, so a backlog does not go out in one burst.
• Three retries an hour apart before a request is marked failed.
• "Send due emails now" button, so you can prove the whole path works immediately and so a shop with no cron can still use it manually.
• A scheduled-sending panel that turns RED when review requests are due and nothing is sending them - this add-on cannot fail silently.
• Review and unsubscribe links are 256-bit random tokens, stored only as SHA-256 hashes, scoped to one order and one purpose, and expiring on windows you set.
• No core files overwritten.

What it does not do

Stated so expectations are right before purchase.

• It does not offer coupons, discounts or reward points in exchange for a review. That is a separate decision and there is no hook for it here.
• It does not send SMS, WhatsApp or push notifications. Email only.
• It does not change how OpenCart stores, moderates or displays reviews in any way, and it does not add photo or video reviews.
• It does not integrate with Trustpilot, Google Seller Ratings or any other third-party review platform.
• It does not email your existing back catalogue. Orders that reached a trigger status before you installed it are not queued - deliberately, because emailing a year of past customers at once is how a shop gets blocked by its mail provider.
• It does not send email itself. It uses whatever mail settings OpenCart is already configured with.

Tested on, not yet verified on

Tested on a single-language, single-store OpenCart 4.1.0.4 install. The settings screen's per-language wording editor is real and works; whether an email correctly follows a second store's branding or a second installed language has not yet been independently verified on a live multi-store or multi-language shop.

Before you buy - two things your shop must have

• An hourly server cron calling OpenCart's own scheduled-jobs URL. OpenCart 4 has a scheduled-jobs system but nothing in OpenCart triggers it; your host has to. The installation guide gives the exact line, and the add-on tells you in red if it is not running.
• Working mail settings in OpenCart, and reviews enabled under System > Settings > Option.

You are responsible for e-marketing and privacy compliance in your own jurisdiction. This add-on gives you the tools - an unsubscribe link in every email, honoured permanently, and a visible opt-out list - but the obligation is yours.

• Tested: OpenCart 4.1.0.4. PHP tested: 8.4. PHP 8.5 is not supported yet.
