Product reviews for PrestaShop 9 - with photos, Google stars, and guest orders that actually work

HJS Product Reviews replaces PrestaShop's free Product Comments module for a shop that wants the things the paid alternatives get wrong, evidenced from real, dated complaints against three named competitors on addons.prestashop.com: stars that don't display, no way for a customer to add a photo, a store review forced before a product review, and reviews from guest checkouts that "almost all functions do not work" for.

What the merchant gets

• More reviews without asking by hand - a reminder is queued automatically when an order reaches the status you choose, sent a number of days later that you set, with a back-office queue showing who will be asked and when. Exclude an order, send one early, or opt an address out for good.
• Reviews from guests, not just account holders - every review link is signed against the ORDER rather than a customer account, so a guest checkout reviews in one click, with no password and no registration, and still gets a verified-purchase badge.
• Star ratings in Google's results - valid AggregateRating and Review structured data on the product page, values emitted as fixed-precision strings. Passed Google's own Rich Results Test live (8 valid items).
• Moderation you can actually work through - filter by status, rating, product or text, or photos only; publish, reject, delete, and reply publicly under any review.
• Your review history comes with you - one click reads PrestaShop's free Product Comments tables and writes reviews from them, without altering the originals.
• Nothing to configure in your theme - the module renders its own markup with its own prefixed styles, hooks only, no override, and its own database tables. It never writes to a PrestaShop table.

What the customer gets

• Up to 10 photos per review, resized on the server with location data stripped before storage.
• No account needed - the link in the reminder e-mail opens the review form directly.
• Sort by newest, highest, lowest or "with photos"; mark a review as useful, once.
• Asked once per order, with a permanent unsubscribe link that survives an uninstall and reinstall.

Key features

• Photo reviews - up to 10 photos per review, re-encoded as fresh JPEGs, EXIF (including GPS) discarded.
• Guest-order reviews - HMAC-SHA256 signed links verified with hash_equals; a tampered link gets a 404.
• Google review stars - AggregateRating plus up to 50 individual Review nodes as JSON-LD.
• Automatic reminders - any order status, 0-365 day delay, a six-state queue screen.
• Moderation - five filters, four actions, a public reply, an auto-publish switch.
• One-click import from Product Comments, plus documented CSV import/export with a dry run.
• Anti-abuse - honeypot, a per-visitor, per-product throttle that never blocks a shared office or household connection from reviewing a different product, optional reCAPTCHA v3 that makes no external request unless enabled.
• Store reviews, kept separate - an optional shop rating, never a condition of reviewing a product.
• Six own tables, no core table touched; the reminder opt-out list is never removed by an uninstall.

What this version does not do

Stated so expectations are right before purchase.

• No video uploads, no AI review summaries, no questions and answers, no incentives for leaving a review, no syndication to third-party review platforms.
• English only in this release. Every string is translatable.

Compatibility

• PrestaShop 9.0 and above - built, CI-tested and live-tested on 9.1.5. Also installs on PrestaShop 8.0+, but 8.x is declared, not tested.
• PHP 8.1 minimum - linted on 8.1, 8.3 and 8.4; the live test store ran PHP 8.2.
• Live-tested on Hummingbird (PrestaShop 9's default theme). Classic is expected to work but is untested.
