Turn "out of stock" into a recovered sale

HJS Back In Stock Notifications lets shoppers leave their email on an out-of-stock product page to be told the moment it returns - and, uniquely, they can subscribe to a specific out-of-stock size or colour, not just the whole product. When you restock, the right people are emailed once.

Key features

• "Notify me when back in stock" email capture on any out-of-stock product page.
• Option-value-level notify: a customer can ask about a specific out-of-stock size or colour, using OpenCart's own per-option stock - most stock-alert tools only handle the whole product.
• Emails each waiting customer exactly once when the item (or their chosen option value) is back in stock, with a branded email and a link straight to the product. Never re-notifies.
• Restock is caught two ways: instantly when you save a product back into stock, and by an hourly background check that also catches restocks from returns, imports, APIs or direct edits.
• Visible scheduler health: the settings screen turns red and tells you exactly what is wrong if the background check is not running while customers are waiting - no silent, empty inbox.
• Manual "Check & send now" button and a "send yourself a test" button.
• Per-language email subject and message, with {product}, {option} and {store} placeholders.
• Proper unsubscribe: one-click links are confirmed with a POST so link scanners cannot opt people out, and a permanent opt-out list is honoured across reinstalls.
• Reads stock only - it never changes your stock levels.

What this extension does not do

• It does not manage or change stock; it only reads it and notifies.
• Email only in this version - no SMS or WhatsApp.
• No discount or coupon reward for subscribing.
• Option-value notify covers stock that OpenCart's native per-option quantity expresses. A full size×colour combination matrix needs a dedicated variant-stock system and is out of scope here.

Data protection / GDPR

The store owner (merchant) is the data controller for the email addresses shoppers submit. HJS Apps does not receive, store or process them. A permanent opt-out list is kept and deliberately preserved if the extension is uninstalled.

Compatibility

• Tested: OpenCart 4.1.0.4
• PHP tested: 8.4. PHP 8.5 is not yet supported.
• Requires a mail engine configured at System > Settings > Mail, and an hourly cron job on your server for automatic sending.
