HJS Catchall Tray Designer: help and support

What the app does

It puts a tray designer on a product page. Your shopper picks the size and shape, drags pockets into place, adds engraving and built-in artwork, and sees the price. The design is added to the cart, and you get the design details on the cart line and in the app.

Before you start

• Your theme must be an Online Store 2.0 theme (one that lets you add blocks to the product page, such as Dawn).
• The designer supports single-currency stores. If a shopper is shown a second currency, the designer is hidden and the theme's own page shows instead.
• The designer and admin are in English only.
• You need a simple product to hold the design (one product, with the base price you want).

Install and set up (about 10 minutes)

1. Install the app from the app store and approve the permissions. It asks only for products, publication and the storefront route. It does not ask to read customers or orders.
2. Open the app. On the Setup page click the button that adds the designer to your product page. The theme editor opens on the product template with the Tray Designer block added. Click Save.
3. In the theme editor, hide your theme's own "Buy buttons" on that template. The designer adds the product to the cart itself; two buttons would confuse shoppers.
4. Back in the app open Settings. Pick the product that should show the designer, and set: the word for your item (tray, board, sign), how many pockets are included in the base price, the price of each extra pocket, the engraving and artwork prices, the smallest pocket you will cut (in millimeters), the wood choices (one per line as key|Label|extra price), and the size limits. Click Save and check the saved message.
5. Open the product page on your store and try it as a shopper: design a tray, add it to the cart, and check the cart line.

Add-on charges and prices

The shopper's price is your product's price plus the extras you set, worked out by the app's server every time. The shopper sees an estimate as they design; if the server's figure differs, the shopper is told before they check out. Prices are in your store currency.

Where your orders' design details are

• On the cart line and the order, the shopper's choices show as line item properties (Size, Shape, Wood, Finish, Pockets, Engraving, Artwork). A private reference (_hjs_design) is hidden from the shopper.
• In the app, Designs lists every design with its reference, product, date, size and price. Production SVG downloads a file in millimeters, grouped by job (outline, recess, each pocket, built-in artwork, engraving), for your CNC or laser software.
• The order also shows a hidden product with the title "Design <reference>". Match it to the design in the app by that reference. The app does not read your orders.

Plans and billing

Plans are shown and billed through your store platform. See the Plan page in the app. You can change plan or cancel there without contacting us. Development stores use the app free.

Common questions

The designer does not appear. Check that the block is on the product template, that the product is switched on in Settings, that the store is single-currency, and that the theme is Online Store 2.0. If the store has a storefront password, shoppers must enter it first.

I see "The designer is not available right now." The block could not reach the app. Reload; if it persists, email us.

A design has a pocket bigger than the shopper drew. The pocket was smaller than your minimum in millimeters; the designer enlarges it and says so.

I want to remove the hidden products. They are tagged hjs-design; filter Products by that tag and delete them. Do not delete a hidden product while its cart or an unmade order still needs it.

Will it slow my store? The block loads a small loader first and the designer only when it nears the screen. We have not published speed figures.

Can shoppers upload a picture, or buy the file? Not in this version.

Uninstall. Uninstalling removes the app's access. Your designs and settings are deleted about 48 hours later, when the platform sends its "shop redact" request. Remove the block from your theme if you want the theme tidy.
